National Service and Maintenance Agreement

The National Service and Maintenance Agreement is an agreement negotiated and administered by the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry (UA) and the Mechanical Service Contractors of America (MSCA) and is a signed contract between the UA and individual mechanical service contracting firms who apply and qualify. The Agreement is a nationally recognized tool that helps contractors provide quality, consistent service to their customers throughout the country and helps reclaim lost market share.

Of Interest

The mechanical contracting industry is one of the most complex sectors in construction—marked by multifaceted team structures, tight margins, variable project scopes, and a rotating workforce drawn from multiple unions. MCAA’s new Management Methods Bulletin, Mechanical Contracting: An Industry Overview, provides a grounding in how mechanical contracting businesses truly operate to help our members better understand their business and lead with clarity. It’s just one of MCAA’s educational resources that are free to MCAA members as a benefit of membership.

Field leaders are one of a contractor’s most valuable assets. Energize your field leaders and build their skills with MCAA’s Field Leaders Conference. This year’s theme, Transform, challenges us to rethink how we inspire teams within our organizations while still being leaders and advancing the industry. The complexity of longer, more elaborate pipe systems, paired with the urgency of getting a business back up and running, makes having the right tools for commercial plumbing repairs essential. You need tools with the appropriate power and size capacity to complete jobs, enough cable to ensure they can reach the end of longer pipes, and extra cable flexibility to allow navigation of longer pipe runs. Along with finding tools with these general features, here are five basic tools you should invest in for commercial work:

Gabriel majored in Construction Management at California State University, Chico and graduated in May. He was an active member of his student chapter from 2022-2025 and served as the Competition Chair and Event Coordinator for his chapter.  Gabriel, who interned with MCAA Members, MacDonald Miller Facility Solutions and Marelich Mechanical, will be starting his full-time job this summer with MCAA Member ACCO Engineered Systems as a Project Engineer.

Worker health is at the heart of all that safety professionals do. MCAA’s Worker Health Resources include six worker safety videos and their accompanying materials and eleven worker safety resources that let you refresh training on subjects such as Asbestos Awareness, Bloodborne Pathogens, Hexavalent Chromium, Silica, Radio Frequency Radiation Safety, Respiratory Protection. Guides, bulletins, and programs on each topic support these efforts. These are just a few of MCAA’s educational resources that are free to MCAA members as a benefit of membership.

Registration is now open for MCAA’s September Field Leaders Conference, being held Monday, September 15 – Wednesday, September 17 at the Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto, ON. In two and a half days, your field leaders will hear from inspiring industry speakers and participate in powerful collaboration, leaving them inspired and re-energized.
