Whether you are a fitter, plumber, or HVAC technician, using safe work practices will help protect you and others from hazards in and around confirmed spaces. A confined space is defined as a space with limited or restricted access that is not designed for continuous human occupancy. Why is it hazardous? Oxygen content below 19.5% makes it difficult to breathe and increases the risk of combustion by more than 23.5%. Flammable gases or vapors and other physical hazards may also be present.
